Why do I love fields so much? I get this question alot so I thought I would finally answer it. There are so many reasons. Not only are they beautiful to look at and so fun to lay in, but the sound the long grass makes when the soft wind blows is just magical. The way the sun hits each blade of grass and the way a field moves together in the wind is something I will never get sick of. There is one more reason why I love fields so much. A very special Aunt of mine was also a photographer. When I would visit her as a youngin she would look right in my eyes and tell me that she wanted to take my picture in a field of flowers. Now as an awkward and shy kid this made me feel so good and I was excited at the thought that someone would actually want to take my picture in a beautiful field. My Aunt never got a chance to do this as she passed away from breast cancer some years later. She is however my inspiration for so many of my portraits and every time I shoot in a field or even admire a beautiful field of flowers or grass, I wonder if this would look like the field my aunt would have taken my picture in. For those of you who have gotten your pictures taken by me in a field, it’s not just a field, it’s so much more. I hope every time you look at a field you see the beauty I do and you take just a second to enjoy.
My lovely little subject in these field pictures is another very close friend of JEM. This little lady is now 2 years old. Nothing makes me more happy than to see a little one having a grand old time running in a field that is taller than her!
