{Maddie & Luke} Watching them Grow

February 25th, 2011

I have been taking these two’s pictures for a couple years now, since Luke was about 6 months old! Wow. He’s now a bit over 2 and what a handsome little boy, along with his big sister Maddie I think together they could tag team for GAP.  One of the things we do here at JEM is […]

I have been taking these two’s pictures for a couple years now, since Luke was about 6 months old! Wow. He’s now a bit over 2 and what a handsome little boy, along with his big sister Maddie I think together they could tag team for GAP.  One of the things we do here at JEM is ask questions while we photograph and while asking questions about Maddie’s school and favorite teachers I got some of the looks that she gave. I love how her expressions change throughout the whole time. I crack up looking at some of Luke’s pictures because he was really getting into being Spiderman and how he would start laughing and getting REALLY into it.   Hearing kids laugh has got be a one of the greatest universal sounds. And, here area few of my favorites:

{Dominic} and Big Sister Bella

How beautiful are these two? Bella is such an angel and Dominic and his dark features are so beautiful. These two came into the studio well before Christmas and with all the rush of the holidays and us JEM girls still playing catch up, it has been a while since I looked at these pictures. I love revisiting photoshoots from the past and I can recall them pretty much like they happened yesterday. Just one of the many reasons why I love photography so much. Looking at pictures can recall a memory like it truly happened yesterday. I can stare at pictures of people I don’t even know for such a length of time that I feel like I know them. Faces giving just a glimpse of who they might of been or who they really are. So, taking a look at these two again, I can see Bella’s big eyes reflecting her innocence and baby Dominic, I can imagine how he might look at the age of 30. As always, a few of my favorites…

{Chris & Dee} Winter Snowstorm Photoshoot

February 16th, 2011

I met Deecember and Chris a few years back and they are the type of couple that make you feel comfortable as soon as you meet them. We have been seriously planning a winter photo session with their dog, Slate for going on two years now! Snow pictures are always unpredictable and we knew that […]

I met Deecember and Chris a few years back and they are the type of couple that make you feel comfortable as soon as you meet them. We have been seriously planning a winter photo session with their dog, Slate for going on two years now! Snow pictures are always unpredictable and we knew that there would be snow everywhere from the Blizzard we had a few Tuesdays ago, but nobody predicted the storm we got the following Saturday. The snow gracefully collected on the tree branches and since we were  the few brave ones out that day, it was so wonderfuly quiet.  I love how dreamy some of these pictures turned out and so I couldn’t help but post a few of my favorites on the blog.

{Everrett Thomas} Lil’ ‘Stinker Butt’

February 16th, 2011

I had never met Sarah and Ryan before till they stepped into the studio with their 6 day-old baby. I say that because I felt like by the time they left I actually kind of knew them. I found out how they met, their trip to New York, getting lost in New York (at the age of, what, 19?), and the kind of work that they do. All this while we tried to get baby Everett down to sleep. I thought since this baby has been used to noise, with three siblings, that maybe our whispering was keeping him up. So, we changed our tones to normal voices and kept on talking…thinking he woudln’t win at this game.  Something like 2 hours later, little Stinker Butt was wide eyed and squirmy.  He has been sleeping for the last 5 days! How could he be up now?? We had it all: cozy heater, heating pad, warm beanbag, but still….not going to drift off for longer than 20 seconds. All these pictures of Everett in the white blanket, he really was sleeping (a little bit) but all the other pictures, he only looks like he is sleeping. Wierd, right? I know! His eyes just went shut for long winks, no sound sleeping. But, in the end, if I hadn’t of told you that, you might have actually thought JEM caught him in dreamland.  The first two are the birth announcments they chose…

Carson and Addison came into the studio well before Christmas {Rewind 2010} and I got to hold this little newborn and cuddle with him while he quietly closed his eyelids and fell into a pretty deep sleep.  Holding a newborn can take away the craziness that goes on around you. I think time can move slowly while you have a baby in your arms.  You can look over and over again at their fresh hair, the folds of their skin and the peach fuzz on their ears.  Little Carson slept for us soundly and while he was napping we got a few pictures of his big sister Addison. Addison reminds me of a porcelain painting from the Renaissance Era. Her blue eyes literally curve out of her face and catch the light so perfectly.   She daintily goes about doing whatever she does and when she is ready to go she will  quietly cry one large tear.  So precious you are Addison.  Natasha-this little man of yours has changed so much from when we took these. Thank you for your patience as things have been so busy at JEM.
