What a gorgeous backyard wedding Heather and Luke had a few weeks ago.  Their wedding weekend spanned three days with the rehearsal Thursday evening, wedding at 9pm on Friday with a “first look” and pictures earlier in the day and a relaxed reception in the afternoon on Saturday.  I remember arriving at the rehearsal and not seeing the location until that night, I was blown away with how beautiful the woods were.  I just wanted to pitch my tent and stay for a while. 🙂  The entire weekend was so unique including Heather’s feather earings.  They were custom made and fit her personality perfectly.  There were so many other things I could talk about from the parking lot crew with VERY cool walkie-talkies, the intense game of croquet going on, sparklers, kazoos, special dances, music and a wedding video that was shown for all to see.

Heather and Luke, I loved being a part of your unique day.  Your love really shines through your pictures.  Makes me smile as I go through them.  Thanks for everything you guys.  I would also like to say a big thank you to our good and faithful blog stalker Sugeily and my Notre Dame student Elizabeth for helping me that weekend.  It was so fun to have you both there.

Well done parking lot crew.  Well done. 🙂

{Kellie & Duke} Tree Farm Wedding

May 23rd, 2011

The weather called for rain-all week long. I pushed it out of my mind and prayed like no other-special request: Lord, could you somehow put a bubble around this tree farm on Saturday between the times of 3 – 6 ? P-LEASE!  Early in the morning on May 7th, Duke and Kellie had an intimate wedding […]

The weather called for rain-all week long. I pushed it out of my mind and prayed like no other-special request: Lord, could you somehow put a bubble around this tree farm on Saturday between the times of 3 – 6 ? P-LEASE!

Early in the morning on May 7th, Duke and Kellie had an intimate wedding ceremony at Corpus Cristi. That same evening, they said their vows again on the serene, Whitehouse Tree Farm, surrounded by all their  family and friends. The air was light with laughter, cocktails, and family from afar.  Since the ceremony was at 9:30 in the morning, Kellie and the girls had a little extra time in the afternoon to freshen up before the 5:00 ceremony…and put a gorgeous flower in her hair.  We did a first look, (or, I guess you would say a second look) and pictures on the property.    Where do I even begin with this couple?! I adore them both.  They compliment each other so well, always so kind to each other, so endearing and so happy.  There were so many things that I incredibly enjoyed about your wedding from the obvious love that you were surrounded by to  the lodge decorated beautifully, and the fireworks that finished off the night.

I need to add a few sidenotes:

– As I drove to the tree farm, it RAINED-POURED from the time I got off the Airport exit, to the time I was a quarter of a mile to the farm. It never rained on the property until I got in my car late that evening. Thank You!

-I was tremendously afraid of the hens in one of these pictures, but Duke Sr. persuaded me that they wouldn’t peck my legs off. He then proudly gave me a tour of the hen house and handed me 3 cartons of farm fresh eggs (egg salad, omelets, fried and scrambled eggs carried me through the following week) Thank YOU!

-Kellie and Duke didn’t even question sitting down on a blanket in the middle of the trees-it’s the small things that make these JEM girls so happy! Thank YOU!

-A special shout out to: my awesome assistant Colleen Barrett-an incredibly sweet and talented photographer, to Dale at Fordham Footage. Dale, anyone that knows you, says your name with a wide smile. You are so terrific! And, the sweet Bee, Brook and her incredible assistants from Bee for the Day. You all have orginizational skills I would like to possess just a tenth of one day.

Ayden came into this world over a month ago! Has it been that long Erica?? I met Erica through a mutual friend and I always love when people come into the studio for the first time and get to see the behind the scenes of JEM.  It’s really quite cozy and not so…what’ s the word? Elaborate. We truly go by what we say, ‘keeping it simple and unique’.  It was so cozy in the studio that evening that baby Ayden slept soundly 😉  Well…after he was wide awake for a good hour, he slept soundly.  Once he was asleep we were able to put him in our old wagon, to our antique scale to his parents arms.  Love love love Erica and her new baby boy shnuggling so close-Erica and Tim you both raidate that new parent glow!  Thanks for sitting around and chilling with me that night while you both cooed your Ayden to sleep.

Meet Naina.  O yes, she is two years old and so full of personality. Many of times here at the studio when we have a young child come in through our doors and see our place for the very first time we know their personality will change from beginning to end.  Many children start off very shy and quiet, while others are like Naina…in the beginning there is not an ounce of shyness and then in the middle of the session I see her other soft personality come out.  We played with chairs, said hello to our friend Clifford, sang songs and at the very end we were able to capture a few of her in her authentic Indian dress, so pretty! Naina has these deep, brown, gorgeous eyes that don’t hide how she is feeling and o so lovable!
