{Kate & Brian} Elegant Toledo Wedding

I remember driving by the Cathedral in the Old West End many years ago and glancing upward and thinking to myself that one day I might be lucky enough to photograph someones wedding there. Years later, I now have the privilege of photographing peoples happy moments that are shared inside these four walls.  Kate and Brian had been engaged for two years and this church, I believe, went along perfectly with everything that Kate had dreamt of.  I say that but I never even really talked about the Rosary with Kate or Brian so I am completely assuming this…but for some reason these words all go together: Elegant. Kate. Rosary Cathedral.  But the thing that I found out from their wedding day, was that more than that, Brian wentwith Kate. They just fit together. I have to note that if you look through our wedding blogs and engagement pictures you will notice that JEM loves to document feeling and  emotion and many of times this involves some smooching/schnuzzling. Well, I was informed that maybe these public displays might not be ‘displayed’ for me…well I won’t make you ever do something you may feel uncomfortable about, so I was completely blown away when Brian had no problem what-so-ever showing some sweet love to his, seriously Ga-orgeous bride. Kate, you looked like you could have walked out of a castle in Ireland. Many more pictures to come, but in the meantime, here are my personal faves…

I can’t write this blog without giving a shout-out to my most wonderful assistant, Colleen Barrett…Colleen, your picture is soon to be posted (turtleneck in summer??)

It’s been over two years that I was introduced to Amanda and Jeremy’s family and EVERY time I take their pictures I am so thankful to be able to capture them honestly and comfortably.  We could not have asked for a more beautiful evening to take these pictures and I need to note that when JEM does sessions, it can sometimes be more of an ‘event’ then a shoot. Why? First of all, we have rounds of things that might come out of our Jeeps (round one: ladders and blankets. round two: wagons, chairs, flower headbands) and then we have snack breaks, clothing changes, and an occasional potty break.  After a few minutes of hanging out, Jeremy spotted deer tracks and showed Sophie them. This meant that for the entire shoot Sophie continuously asked when we were going to spot a deer.  How excited she was when we actually did! That was my first time while on a shoot at Secor that we saw one within a stones throw. I was also excited to get pictures of just the two that got this whole thing started 🙂  I couldn’t have asked for a better time or better company.

{Mr. Davis} Turns Two

June 23rd, 2011

Davis grabbed me by my hand and led me down the bridge at Wildwood and I was smitten immediately.  It’s now official, I have a new friend. I’ve been photographing Davis since he was a wee baby and I am not going to deny it: I was excited that he took me by the hand, I felt like we connected 😉  Every time I take pics of Davis, I joke that we have an entourage, even though it’s just one extra person, Davis’ grandma Connie. I have to give this grandma a ‘shout-out’ since she gives us JEM girls the heads up on estate and garage sales. I believe everyone who has ever had a garage sale in the Sylvania area knows Connie. Bhaahahaha! So, anyways, we spent this hot and humid morning chasing, playing, digging in dirt, and enjoying the cool breezes that would drift our way. This first pic is my favorite since this was during our bonding time and I feel like he’s letting me in on a secret…

I absolutely LOVE outdoor weddings and you may dislike me for saying this, but I love the heat. Yes, Brittanie and Nick, I said it – I love hot weather.  So, you might remember this couples’ outdoor engagement session at Pearson Park. This is where I met Nick for the first time….Brittanie had filled me in that he is just a big kid, and is always goofing around, laughing and joking.  Again, he didn’t disappoint. Nick is always laughing, and on his wedding day I got to meet his 2 brothers and friends and this just multiplied his happiness.  During the ceremony, however, he looked at Brittanie with such tenderness and love that though there were a few laughs, you could sense their devotion for each other.  If you know Brittanie, then you know how she makes you feel like you are the only person in the room…that you are her friend, and that you matter to her. She is one in a million and Nick, you are a lucky man.

So, a little about this outside wedding! It took place on Nick’s parents backyard in Ida, Michigan.  The setting was beyond perfect and I thought I would pass out due to the excitement over an old blue boat on the property.  I know, an OLD BLUE BOAT!!!!!!! Nick’s mom loves to decorate with anitques and that is when I was about to double over from giddiness.  An old bathtub was filled up with waters and pop and Summer Shandy was on tap! Life is good.  Nick’s dad married them and they couldn’t of asked for better words than during the ceremony. The rain stayed away and their night was surrounded by the ones they love.  What can I say, you two are perfect for eachother!

Ok, it’s been 2 weeks since a softball update.  Don’t ask why.  You know why.

All we gotta say is it was standing room only this past Thursday to see the perfection that is JEM Photography softball on Rolf Field.  The ambulance almost had to be called because the cohesiveness between second and third was on fire!  Which brings us to our JEM-VP for the week, Maggie.  She toiled, earned, dove and gave it her all and for this she will now have her picture as the Kekambas profile picture who has an amazing following of 20 fans or so.  Honorable mentions go to the following players in no specific order, Allison, Pudge, John, Chris, Rachel, Rob, Emy, Jacquie, Kevin, Jen (the other Jen, Not JEM’s Jen but the other Jen, the one that’s sweet at softball), Mike, Dan, Kristen and Jerry.  Poor Poor Jen.  She didn’t get mentioned.  Maybe next time.

If you are planning to come to see the perfection we advise that you come early if you want a bleacher seat.  Let me tell you, they go fast.

GOOOOOOOO JEM!!!!!

Run it out Em… sweet glasses by the way.

Let’s high five it JEM!

Cuz we’re sweet!

Awesome job out there Kevin…”here we go”
