{Annah & Dave} Brrrrr…. Beautiful Winter Engagements

These were taken before Christmas when we had that one snowy Saturday…I would like for it to snow again just so I can wear my new fur boots. I dont’ really have fur boots, but I want to buy a really obnoxious kind that keep my feet warm, and the first snow of 2012 would send me out to get a pair. I also want a pair of these grey boots that Annah is wearing. Annah, actually, could you be my personal shopper?? Thank You! I’m not kidding, I am going to go buy a blue, flannel shirt and this same scarf because I love it. Anyways…on to some of my favorite pictures! I couldn’t help but post a few of these because their chemistry is melting like butter. Love them, and love you guys and I need nothing else to say

{Erin & Tony} Getting Married

It make me feel so honored when I find out that these two drove over an hour in a half to meet me at Wildwood for their engagement pictures-with their sweet dog, who appears to have an affection for the camera How quickly these next few months will go until we meet again for their wedding. Erin and Tony, you seemed to have walked out of a movie when I saw you approaching the Manor House. You two are clearly perfect for each other…Tony is definitely smitten (I think that is my new favorite word, since I have been using it a lot) with Erin and how could he not be?? As these pictures were getting edited, all of us girls at the studio would ooh and ahh over how cute this couple was. Erin-Erin.Erin. Erin. You are so sweetly beautiful, like I said in our first encounter-girl, you have skin like a porcelain doll. Though this day was so incredibly humid and called for rain, you two didn’t care and I really love that about you! My favorites…

{Matt & Erica} Soon to be Married!

It’s June. It’s hot. And it’s the season for L-O-V-E. Yup, Erica and Matt will be getting married at the end of this month in Ann Arbor and I am excited for their outside wedding. We met up at Oak Openings, a park that is yet another one of our favorites and one that needs to be revisited more, since it seems to be ever changing with color. If you have never been to this park, I highly recommend it. They have everything from wildflowers to nothing but green forest pathways, ponds and bridges. Anyways…Matt and Erica were so nice to photograph as they weren’t shy in front of the camera and not ONCE did they complain about the heat or that I requested us to pull off the side of the road and march up some terrain into some purple flowers. Note: I won’t be able to do that again as Ranger Nancy stopped me and said that was a big no-no. Matt, I love how you are looking at Erica in this field….I said aloud “Awww.” And Erica, you’re stunning (italicized for emphasis) - and thank you for the sunhat picture!

{Jen & Carson} Rain & Sunshine-Who Says You Can’t Have Both??

How long had this engagement session been planned for?? A seriously LONG time. A few reschedules and we were finally set to meet up at Secor Park to get that glowy light in the evening. All day had been absolutely gorgeous. And then? The RAIN. Jen and Carson drove all the way from Monroe (well, not like it was hours away, but still) and we said we were going to give it a try in the rain. So, I cleverly call these first set of pictures Part One in the Rain. In the beginning it was a downpour but by the end it was barely a light drizzle. But, with a girl who had been envisioning engagement pictures with sunshine we couldn’t leave it at that. Besides, Jen and Carson are my friends! We hooked up the next day and it was much lovelier conditions. A field of yellow flowers was our backdrop and we hung out enjoying the day. Now, why is there a movie reel in some of these pictures?? Well Carson is one of the most creative, ambitious people I know. He loves doing. Doing. Going. Creating. So on a snowy Tuesday last winter he ‘rented’ out a movie theater at Westfield Franklin Park. Jen thought it was a little odd that no one else was seeing the same movie as them. But when the movie came on, it was a homemade video that Carson had made, highlighting how he feels about Jen from the moment he saw her to ending the video with saying he has just one thing left to ask her. Well! Yes!

I am so glad that I have met both of you . Jen, the two of us could be trouble and though I could write more I think I need to put a clause in here that ‘girrrrrlllll…you don’t know how pretty you are.’

{Kristen & Josh} Engaged

How refreshing this photo shoot was for me. Kristen and Josh live in Kentucky but will be getting married in Toledo this summer. They were in town for a few days around Easter and it so happened that the evening of this photo shoot was absolutely a perfect spring evening with the temperature hovering around 68 degrees! We took advantage of this and slowly meandered around Botanical Gardens, stopping off and enjoying different areas. But that wasn’t the reason that it was so refreshing. Kristen and Josh said they weren’t much for public affection but I couldn’t have felt more differently about their affection for each other while I was looking through my lens. Kristen would laugh and Josh would pull her in a little tighter, just so comfortable in each other’s arms. What we believe makes a photograph so meaningful and beautiful is not necessarily the light or the location, it is simply a connection between two people that share a love for each other. We all have those special connections and what we strive for is to make you feel comfortable enough that you might reveal a little bit of who the two of you are while together (even if you have never met us before!). And so while we are all enjoying this beautiful evening and the dog is going nut-so… I pause to take it all in and think, wow, this couple is perfect for each other, I am honored that they shared a little piece of who they are with me.

I can’t publish these pictures and not say something about Kristen’s eyes. I honestly did not do a thing in editing-she has these crystal blue, sparkly (not a word?) gorgeous eyes that look like Claude Monet painted them himself.
